What is "Gifted"?
The Ohio Department of Education defines gifted as, "one who performs or shows potential for performing at remarkably high levels of accomplishment when compared to others of their age, experience, or environment. " When a student is identified as gifted in a given content area, they maintain that identification through their graduation.
The process for identifying gifted students at Cedar Cliff is as follows:

The process for identifying gifted students at Cedar Cliff is as follows:
- Grade Level Screening at 2nd and 5th grade using the IOWA Skills Test and the CoGat Test
- Grades 3-5 iReady scores to identify Reading and Math
- Parent Referral: Once a child is referred, they will be assessed with a state-approved gifted assessment.

At Cedar Cliff Local Schools, we meet the needs of gifted students through differentiation within the classroom. Teachers modify pace, content, and product to challenge gifted students through their strengths. Educators participate in ongoing professional development focused on implementing research-based practices to enhance the general curriculum for gifted students. Gifted students are also encouraged to take part in opportunities, such as writing contests, independent projects, and college credit courses.
